Well, it is that time of year again. My kids are off to school and I am excited to begin writing a brand new book. I will be creating the book through this blog and you will have free access to all of it’s content here. This book/blog series is called Seven Habits of Highly Effective Readers and will give you information on what you can do to create an avid reader.
No one can argue that highly effective readers know what they like to read. In fact, when they read one book they want to know if it is part of a series. Once they find that it is part of a series, they add the next book to their reading list. After they finish the series they look to see if that author has written anything else.
I have personally witnessed this with my daughter Katelyn. She was one of those kids that was placed in advanced reading in Kindergarten and was already reading chapter books. When she was in 4th grade she was reading, The Name of This Books is Secret, by Pseudonymous Bosch. She loved this book so much that she turned to the back of the book to see if there were other books in this series listed. She found out that indeed there was. So as soon as she was done reading one, she would immediately go and read the next one. This cycle continued until each of the books was completed. Here is a list of the books in the series.
Book 2 - If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.
Book 3 – This Book is not Good for You
Book 4 - This isn’t What it Looks Like
Book 5 - You have to Stop This
After she completed all of these books, she wanted to read more of Pseudonymous Bosch. Why, because his style is really fun to read for both kids and adults. So Katelyn found out that a new book of his was getting released and it is called, Write This Book: A Do-It Yourself Mystery. Here is an excerpt as posted on Amazon.
